What's the difference between Free, Driver Only, and Premium?
Free gives you family tracking (up to 6 members), the ability to add friends, and on-demand ride coordination ($4 platform fee + $1/mile per ride). Driver Only is free forever—browse available rides and earn $1/mile helping your community. Premium ($10/month) gives you unlimited family members, scheduled rides, and reduced platform fees ($1 instead of $4 per ride).
Do you background check drivers?
No. Shufl is a coordination tool for people you already trust—family, friends, neighbors, babysitters. We do not verify, vet, or background check any users. You choose who's in your network, just like coordinating rides in real life.
How does payment work?
Shufl uses a fixed $1/mile driver reimbursement rate. Riders pay a platform fee ($4 for Free tier, $1 for Premium) plus $1/mile to the driver. Payments go directly to drivers via Stripe Connect—Shufl never touches transportation funds. Platform fees only cover infrastructure costs (Firebase, Mapbox, Twilio, Stripe).
Is Shufl like Uber or Lyft?
No. Shufl is not a rideshare app. We're a private coordination platform for families. There are no strangers, no surge pricing, and no public driver marketplace. You only coordinate with people you personally invite to your network.
Can Free tier users both give and request rides?
Yes! Free tier users can both give and request rides. Free tier includes on-demand ride requests with a $4 platform fee per ride. You can also give rides (if you connect a bank account via Stripe) and earn $1/mile. Free tier is limited to 6 family members and on-demand rides only—Premium unlocks unlimited family and scheduled rides.
What's included in the $10/month Premium plan?
Everything in Free tier (family tracking, ride requests, real-time tracking, in-app chat & video, emergency SOS), plus: unlimited family members (no 6-person limit), scheduled rides with automated reminders, reduced platform fee ($1 instead of $4 per ride), and priority support. Premium pays for itself after 4 rides per month.
Can I cancel anytime?
Absolutely. Cancel your Premium subscription anytime. You'll still keep Free tier access with family tracking (up to 6 members), on-demand rides, and the ability to give rides.
